Learn from wisdom that has withstood the test of time.
The early church writers understood the importance of living a life rooted in Jesus…A rooted life doesn’t just happen by accident.
Discover the wisdom and truth of the early Christian authors who provided clear pathways towards becoming more like Jesus. Early church writers like Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and Evagrius of Pontus have much to teach us about ourselves and the Christian walk.

Blessed are the pure in heart…
Walk fully as God’s beloved. When we learn to lay down our will, and step forth in obedience we see God’s work in our life most clearly. In this way, as we let God lead, our whole being becomes pervaded by love and we become better able to “see” God and his work in and around us.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness…
Choose God. Following God requires everything of us, but in choosing him, the promise remains: he will fill us with every good thing.
Blessed are the meek…
Live truthfully. Life, in the truest sense, is fully dependent upon God, always. Living dependent upon God is the pathway to humility which ultimately roots us in love.

What we do:
“Wisdom” cohorts meet once a month for 1 hour:
Together we’ll read an excerpt every month from a different early Christian writer and reflect on the reading. At the end of each session we’ll end with a short time of prayer that connects with the reading.
You’ll learn from ancient Christian writers like Basil the Great, John Chrysostom, Evagrius of Pontus, Ephrem the Syrian, and others.
“The heart is but a small vessel; and yet dragons and lions are there, and there likewise are poisonous creatures and all the treasures of wickedness; rough, uneven paths are there, and gaping chasms. There also is God, there are the angels, there life and the Kingdom, there light and the apostles, the heavenly cities and the treasures of grace: all things are there.”
Macarius The Great
